Thank you for your interest in becoming an EMT — it is an amazing, honorable opportunity. We have compiled a list of things to consider regarding the logistics of becoming an EMT, which will hopefully help you solidify your choice in enrolling in the training program.

8. Once you have passed your course test and skills test, you will complete 24 hours of ride alongs with SoCal Fire. This will be your final step before officially completing your course.
9. After finishing your course, passing your final, passing your skills test, and completing 24 hours of ride alongs, you are ready to sign up for the NREMT. The NREMT is a national registry test to that will decide whether you are competent enough to acquire a license.There are two parts to the NREMT: a computerized cognitive test and a psychomotor exam. Click “Application for Initial Certification” Being and becoming an EMT is an incredibly rewarding opportunity and experience. Although it will take hard work and dedication, you will have the ability to impact thousands of lives and become part of team passionate about helping others. COVID-19 is not affecting the structure of this course. All of the course can be completed online and remote except for the skills exam and the miniature ride along. Students have one year to complete the course, so we are hoping that sometime during that time period you will be able to return to SoCal Fire to do the skills exam.
